International Communication, Part One
Today we were touring around the area and looking at old chateaus. The first one we went to was closed. On the way there we drove over and old bridge. The girls were in one car and the guys in the other car. The girls car was in front of us and stopped so that Katie could take a picture. On the other side of the bridge was a French soldier or policeman. He was sort of smirking that the crazy Americans had stopped in the middle of the bridge to take a picture. So, when we drove by him, I gave him a shrug like I didn't know what they were doing or thinking and he leaned his head to one side like saying he didn't know either. It just felt good to connect non-verbally with a French person. It was weird and good to know that two guys could communicate with each other without saying a word. The story is not as good here because you had to be there. But sometimes all guys can have a common understanding no matter what language because we don't understand girls. More stories to come.......
