My Favorite Player

Fact #1 - David Beckham is my favorite football (you call it soccer) player of all-time.  I have watched him since his days at Manchester United then Real Madrid now Los Angeles Galaxy.  I have also read his autobiography and have the DVD they made when he left Man United.

Fact #2 - On August 17, 1996,  Beckham propelled himself into stardom when he scored an amazing goal in a match against Wimbledon.  With Manchester United winning 2-0, he noticed that Wimbledon's goalkeeper was standing a long way out of his goal, and hit a shot from the halfway line that floated over the goalkeeper's outstretched arms and into the net.

 

Fact #3 - On Saturday, May 24, 2008 Beckham does it again.  This goal was not as great as '96 but was farther away.  It was not as great because the keeper had come up to help his team try and tie the game.  So, the goal at the other end was empty.  But anyone else who would have tried to shoot from 70 yards away probably would have had the ball swerve to the right or left of the goal but Beckham powered the ball straight ahead in the air before bouncing once or twice and into the goal!
